Parent's Meeting Notes from Tuesday, May 19th

Thank you for taking the time to attend our parent meeting! Here is a summary with important information and links for future reference

Navigators Swim Club Staff (with email links):

    Housekeeping items:

    • By June 12th, every athlete needs to submit a birth certificate to the Aquatic Center front desk. You can provide a copy or an original and we will copy it for you. If you do not know where the birth certificate is, try asking the school for a copy. If you uploaded a birth certificate during registration with Parks and Rec, you do NOT need to provide copy.
    • Memorial Day: No practice Friday, May 22nd or Monday, May 25th.
    • Mock meet on May 30th was canceled.

Most communications will be made through SwimTopia, utilizing two ways:

1.Emails - lengthier info such as meet info, newsletters, and group communications.

2.Alerts - via push notifications from the SwimTopia App. Make sure you have it enabled for:

    • Last minute announcements
    • Schedule Changes
    • Weather Delays/Cancellations

All required and recommended equipment are located on our website (navs.swimtopia.com) under the “Team Store” tab. Simply click the “Shop Our Team Store” tab and you will be redirected to our team store on Swim Outlet. Coach Nate has shopped all these items for pricing and best equipment for our practices/meets.

    Required Equipment:

    • Practices:
      • Suit
      • Goggles (limited supply available for sale at Aquatics Center front desk)
      • Swim Cap
    • Meets:
      • Team Suit (choice of styles and customizations on team store)
      • Goggles
      • Navigators Team Swim Cap (Most of the Rec Team Swimmers have received their complementary cap already. Club swimmer will get them next week. Talk to Coach Nate if you haven’t received yours yet. If you need a replacement Team Cap, a limited supply is on sale at the Aquatics Center front desk.)
    • Other Recommended Equipment (remember, you could consider buying second hand or borrowing):
      • Fins: These are a great training tool especially if your swimmer is struggling. Recommended brands and styles are available on the team store)
      • Pull Buoy, Mesh Bag, and Kickboard: available for sale through the team store and limited supply of team buoy and boards for use during practices.

All of our MEETS are listed on the Navigators SwimTopia website by clicking Summer Rec League and then clicking “Meets and Events”. Meet details can change, so please check the page often.

Before each meet you will receive an email requesting you to declare athlete attendance via SwimTopia. Remember-- NO DECLARATION, NO EVENTS, NO PARTICIPATION. During this process you may leave the coaches notes regarding stroke or relay preferences, if you want to limit the number of events your athlete participates in, or any other notes. You can complete this on the website or the app.

We have posted a “How to declare meet attendance” video. To access the video go to the “Team Info Tab”, then click “Swim Meet 101”; you will be required to log in to access this page.

Each meet will charge a FEE for both individual and relay events, and possibly a facility charge.

    • Meet fees will be charged at the conclusion of the season via a CivicRec bill, where you registered for the summer season. We encourage you to keep record of the number of events your swimmer declared their attendance for so you have an idea of what to expect when you are billed at the end of the season.
    • Meet fee structure can be found on our SwimTopia website under the Summer Rec tab and then “Program Info” section, then scroll to the “fees” section
    • Facility fees are one-time flat fees per athlete. This fee is usually very small, only $1-$3.
