Steps to Becoming a Navigator
Thank you for you for your interest in the Navigators Swim Club; we are thrilled to have you with us and ask for your patience as we continue to organize and improve our processes! The steps to get started with our team are as follows; please ensure you complete them in this order:
1. Schedule/Attend an Evaluation: Evaluations are for swimmers who are not currently participating with the Navigators or who have not been placed in a training group already. During the evaluation, our coaching staff will meet your swimmer, observe their comfort in the water, and determine the most appropriate next step or practice group. Please fill use our CONTACT US Form to schedule an evaluation. Please arrive ready to swim with a swimsuit, goggles, and towel; evaluations only take a few minutes. (Please note, if you were placed in a training group already you may skip to step 2)
2. Register to your assigned training group at Jefferson Parks and Rec: Go to the Jefferson Parks and Rec catalog and select "Aquatics", then "Navigators Swim Club", then click the training group your athlete was assigned to during evaluations (10&U 1, 10&U 2, Age Group 1, Age Group 2, Senior 1, Senior 2, etc.).
3. Register with SwimTopia: SwimTopia is the system we use to create and run meets; it also serves as the platform for ALL team communications. Please create a SwimTopia account (if you are new) and Register for the Navigator Swim Club 2026-2027 season. If you already have an account be sure to log in before starting the registration. Please note every swimmer must register at the start of EACH season. For example, even if you registered with SwimTopia for our summer season, you still must register for the 2026-2027 season.
4. Obtain a Membership with USA Swimming: All swimmers must be in good standing (valid membership) to attend USA Swimming sanctioned meets. Please go to USA Swimming and select a membership; we recommend selecting the flex membership.
We look forward to a great season together!
This initial registration period will allow us to process enrollments and evaluate our roster numbers. Based on registration, we will finalize training session (practices) days and times for each group/level.
Training sessions (practices) during the 2026/27 season are initially/tentatively planned to take place Monday through Friday between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, some Saturdays (TBA), with USA Swimming meets on the weekends. Once our initial training schedule is finalized, we will communicate the official practice schedule and continue refining it as the program grows.
